11 Steps to Business Casual Revealed

Red High Heels? Flip flops? What do you wear to work or an event that is "Business Casual"? Great question. Sometimes a daily question. For a lot of women a professional image is a must but a provocative one is a no-no. Moms can use business casual as a creative outlet for getting dressed. Relate to your wardrobe by mixing and matching budget items with more expensive pieces to create a functional and personal look.

Business Casual is a topic that is especially important for Mom Entrepreneurs. A large part of their day is spent toting the kids to events, parks and school. Frequently, a business meeting, sales pitches, and meet and greets are right in the middle of the kids schedule. As a Mom, either working in a business casual environment or creating your own business environment at home, you need functional, stylish and appropriate clothing. Many stay-at-home moms would benefit from dressing a bit more "business casual" in their everyday life as well.

Even PTA, school functions and girls night out can be benefited by business casual. If your spouse or significant other has company functions, business casual is probably the way to go.

What does "business casual" look like? This immediately brings to my mind Banana Republic. The clothes they have available are both classy and casual. If the prices are out of your budget, use their outfits as an inspiration. Look at how they put the outfit together, what type of shoes are worn and which accessories is the model wearing? Target has some equally stylish options at a fraction of the cost, just remember they may not last as long.

Here are they items you should have in your wardrobe when dressing business casual:

1. Pants- Look for linen, cotton or cotton-blend. Make sure they are long enough for heels. The hemline of the pants should fall between the top of the heel and mid-heel of the shoe, breaking at about the back to mid-arch of your instep. Dark denim is fine if the pants are trouser style. Don't overdo the denim- save it for Friday.

2. Skirts - Appropriate length is important. Make sure the hem hits the knee. This will allow you the freedom to move easily and feel confident you are not exposing too much.. It will also be more comfortable for you when you are with the kids, like after karate class.

3. Tops - Unless you are wearing a tee under a vest or sweater, don't wear it. Tees are far too casual. Instead, opt for button up tops that fit well, knit tops, woven tops and fitted sleeveless tops.

4. Jackets and Sweaters - Great for layering over your tops for chilly days or cold offices. The key factor for these pieces is fit. If you are throwing on a big sloppy sweatshirt or stretched out cardigan, you will not look professional. Match your warm pieces to your outfit. They should not be an after thought. Buy the best you can afford in classic cuts for many years of use. Cashmere is always a winner!

5. Dresses - These should be at or below the knee for the same reason a skirt should be. Sundresses and strapless dresses should be reserved for after work and weekends.

6. Shoes - They add a lot of character to your outfit. Use them to add interest to an otherwise conservative look. If open-toe is acceptable then don't wear pantyhose with them... please! A kitten heel or low heel is perfect for business casual and still functional for chasing after the kiddos when you reunite. You can also wear ballet flats, loafers and boots, but keep the sneakers at home.

7. Handbag - Your bag says SO much about you. It should coordinate with your outfit, be clean and able to hold all the goods you need to tote during the day. Look for a bag with good construction and pockets to organize our items so you can get to them quickly.

8. Accessories - Wear them. Yes, your wedding ring is gorgeous but it doesn't really count as a fashion accessory. Buy several necklaces that can be mixed and matched with your outfits. If you wear a watch, buy one that is classy so it goes with many looks. Earrings... every day. You determine if they are dangling or not but a beautiful and interesting earring draws attention to your face.

9. Your nails - Yes, a very important part of your overall appearance. Make sure your finger nails and toe nails are kept neat and clean.. Light colored polish is best as it hides the chips better in case you don't have time to touch up.

10. Your undergarments - Your rear view is important. Make sure you don't have VPL (visible panty lines) and all bra straps are tucked away. Proper undergarments, such as a slip, provide you the confidence you won't be showing silhouettes to you co-workers.

11. Your smile - The most important thing you'll wear.

Change your style to express different versions of yourself depending on the circumstances. If the environment you are working is more artistic in nature, you have more options like Bohemian styles, ombre and tribal trends.

The key to business casual is to remember you are representing yourself in how you look. Make sure your clothes are ironed, the hem is the right length, your accessories are appropriate, and of course, smile.

Whether you're meeting a new client or going to the PTA you will be judged by your looks before you even speak a word. Trying to land financial support for your home-based business? Present yourself as someone who can be taken seriously. Let your creativity show the true confident 'you' to the world.

UGG Boots - Do Not Get Scammed

Let me lay it on the line for you here. There are a lot of fake UGG boots about. If you do not wanted to be taken for a ride follow these simple instructions to buying genuine UGG.

Fake UGG smell of paint

The first sign of a boot that is fake is the smell. Fakes smell of paint or lacquer from the dye used on the synthetic materials. The smell is not nice. A lot of the fakes have a label attached too saying "snow boots". Genuine UGG are not called snow boots at all.

Fake boots use synthetic fur

Genuine ones have real sheepskin fur on the inside. It is fluffy looking and thick and a creamy color. The fake ones use synthetic fur which is is slightly grey in color, much thinner and when you rub it in your hand bits of fur start falling out, it is obvious when you do this that the synthetic fur will not last long at all and the whole boot will soon fall apart on you.

Fake boots are incorrectly labeled

UGG are now made in China. Only Ugg Sundance and Ugg Ultra are manufactured in New Zealand. The fake ones will often have a label saying made in Australia or New Zealand. A genuine one is not made anywhere but China. Do not be fooled.

Fake Ugg have a badly made sole

The sole of the fake boots are poorly made and manufactured. Where the sole joins the heel, the genuine ones has a flush join. On the fake there is a solid line clearly visible. This is where the boots will start falling apart and leave you walking around wondering what has happened.

Some people actually look for fake UGG boots, because they are cheaper. Cheaper means looking like boots from a reject shop after a month.

Unique Plush Toys

Tired of the same plush animals that everyone else has? It's not that they aren't cute, it's just that you see them everywhere and everyone has them. If you're looking for something unique, there's good news. You can get unique plush toys for your baby or young children, or you can get one for yourself. Deglingos is one company where you can get something different. These toys are cute, and they look like they're homemade from scraps that were lying around, but in a good way. You can get some of the more common plush toys like cats and dogs and cows and sheep, but you can also get a lobster, a chicken, or a hedgehog. They cost around forty dollars, and because their made from scraps each one of them is an interesting tactile experience. They're just plain fun to touch.

In the 'so ugly it's cute' category, you can also buy something from the Ugly Doll company. There are black and green bats, a vaguely rabbit-like creature, a pink dog with one eye, and others. They look plain and a bit like their bored, but children love them - maybe because they reinforce that it's ok to look different or not be perfect. For whatever reason, they're a big hit with kids. The FlatOut Bear is another good choice. He's made from sheepskin and has no stuffing, so he's just flat, but he's incredibly soft and great to snuggle. Being flat instead of round also means that he's easy for little hands to pick up, so that's a big plus. These kinds of toys are unique, but they're not so different that children don't know what to do with them or how to feel about them, so they can easily become well-loved toys for a long time to come.

If your child is allergic and regular plush toys are out of the question because of it, there is something that you can get for them, as well. It's called Pure Plushy, and it's hypoallergenic, made with memory-foam insides so that it doesn't pick up mold, mildew, or mites the way that other soft toys sometimes will. It also retains its shape better and for a longer period of time than many toys, so it's a good deal at about thirty dollars. If you're not worried about allergies, you can get animals with magnets inside so you can mix and match heads and tails and you can also get playtime toys that hide naptime blankets, so your child will have what he or she needs when sleepytime comes.

There are many Unique Plush Toys available today - look and see what you can find.

Men's Dress Shirts - Understanding the Effect of Contrast & Seasons on Color Selection

The first thing a person notices about a dress shirt is its color. In a crowded room of suits, your choice of shirt colors will either help you stand out or blend in; the key here is what are your intentions and do you know how to mix and match your clothing in order to fulfill them. The only way to do this is to gain mastery in understanding 1) what color shades compliment you and 2) how those same colors frame you in your environment. The goal of this article is to help you to begin to understand both.

The Role of your Complexion, Hair, and Eye Color

A man's complexion, hair color, and eye color are the key indicators he should use when selecting the color of a fabric which will cover his body. Unfortunately, most men make their color decision based on what they have worn in the past, what colors are readily available, and the ever-changing winds of fashion. The result is what you see today, a sea of solid white and blue shirts. The two most important factors in selecting shirt color are a man's skin tone and hair color. Eye color is a wild-card factor; in the cases where eye color strongly contrasts a man's complexion and hair color, it can be used to introduce colors that would otherwise have not compliment an individual. It is the relationship between these three factors that determines what contrast category a man falls into: either High, Low, or Medium Contrast

High Contrast Men

Put simply, these are men whose hair color is a stark contrast to their skin tone; black hair with white skin is a perfect example. For high contrast men, the key to looking good is to be able to mimic this color difference in their clothing with the contrast in their facial zone. A dark navy suit with a white shirt and a charcoal suit with an ice blue shirt are two combinations that compliment high contrast men. In general, light colored shirts with dark suits and dark/vibrant ties with light colored suits. Dark shirts with light suits can be accomplished, but pulling this off requires skill. High contrast men are always complimented by strong ties that stand out from the shirt.

Low Contrast Men

As the name suggests, these are men with a muted appearance. Light hair and light skin is the most common variant, but men with red hair, bald men, and men with little hair also fall into this category. The strengths of these men are the exact opposite of the high contrast men above. Low contrast men should seek a monochromatic look, as that a strong contrasting outfit will easily overpower their muted tones. Remember the purpose of a frame (your clothing) is to enhance the picture (your face). In general, low contrast men fair well with dark blues and earth tone dress shirts combined with dark suits. When wearing light gray or tan suits, the low contrast gentlemen needs to stay with lighter colored shirts and earth tones; white is permissible here if the suit is light enough to avoid a stark contrast. Be careful in your choice of tie, if the neck-wear stands out too much it can draw attention from your face to your chest and stomach.

Medium Contrast Men

If you don't fall into one of the two extremes, you most likely fit into this group. Brown skinned men with dark hair are common members, along with lighter skinned men and with gray and white hair. With such a wide selection of facial tones and hair colors, it's hard to give specific guidance in this category. What we will say is that most men do not fit exactly in the middle; instead they lean towards either low or high contrast. The afore mentioned dark haired men with brown skin; they lean towards the high contrast, and can not only utilize that man's color combinations but they can get away with a few subtle monochromatic combinations. The same with the light skinned gentlemen with gray hair. He is more similar to the low contrast individual, and would do well to follow the rules set forth for that man. However, he can very successfully pull off a contrasting outfit, especially if his eyes or another feature compliment the color combination chosen. To sum it up, medium contrast men can enjoy the best of both worlds, but should be careful when venturing too far in one direction.

The Role of Seasons

It should be mentioned that although your natural colors are the dominant factors in determining what color clothing you should wear, they are not the only things you should pay attention to. A dandy also gives attention to the seasons, paying heed to the effect the colors around him have on the ensemble he has put together. The dark suit and dark colored shirt you decide to wear may look magnificent on you, but at a summer wedding you'll find yourself not only hot under the collar but sticking out like a sore thumb. Let's take a quick look at the seasons and the shades of color they invoke.

Spring

The season of re-birth, it's here that we pinks, lavenders, and lighter shades of blue. Lighter weight fabrics are dusted off from their winter sleep, and a man would speak well of himself to wear multi-colored checks and stripes that compliment him.

Summer

A time when light and bold colors dominate the scene. Gold striped shirts, red checks, and of course a wide variety of blue solids and patterns should grace the wardrobe of the well dressed man. 100% cottons, linens, and silks are popular fabric choices because of their wicking qualities.

Fall

Earth Tones and heavier fabrics begin to make their appearance. Clothing tends to take on a somber appearance with the onset of cooler weather, and now with the weather getting cooler is a good time to wear blends. Their heat retention qualities are good on an cold evening you are caught without an overcoat.

Winter

Dark colors and heavy fabric such as flannels make their appearance. You can enliven your wardrobe a bit with a pink or maize oxford, but winter is the season you want to get your money's worth from the fabrics designed to keep you warm. Forest green and brown tones are a stable during this season.

It's important to remember that confidence in ones appearance is vital to looking great. When people look at you a tad longer than usual, you need to have the confidence in your outfit to know that it's because you look that good (as opposed to looking that bad!). Our advice is to have the courage to know yourself, and from that knowledge choose the colors that best compliments you as an individual.

Mountain Bike Clipless Tips

Why ride clipless Mountain pedals? Clipless pedals I believe are one of the greatest additions to Mountain Biking. Many experts claim about a 5% increase in power transmitted to the bike. I would agree with that. The main advantage for me is I feel way more in control of the bike. I am connected to the bicycle at the hands and the feet until I decide to separate. Unexpected bumps, intentional jumps, washboard trail, and many other situations, my feet do not come off the pedals until I make the decision to Bail. Then my feet are instantly disconnected. Starting up a steep hill it is much easier to get into one pedal and then the other while you are pedaling than it is to get into the second toe clip if you are riding with toe clips.

How do I get into the Clipless Mountain Pedals? Most pedals you use a slightly toe down forward push on the pedal and then you put your weight on that foot and you will get a Click. You are in. Most people start by putting the same foot either right or left in the pedal first all the time. Then they start riding and slip the second one in.

How Do I get Out of Clipless Pedals? To release from clipless pedals you pivot your heels away from the bike. To learn this motion you can lean against a wall and click in, click out, click in, click out ,click in, click out. This can take a little bit of time to get used to. I recommend if you have a bike trainer to use trainer and work out with them for a while. Then before you go out in traffic practice in a park or somewhere with a soft landing place so if you fall you do not end up with road rash. If you do not have a trainer you can just put your bike in the living room and practice clicking in and out while watching TV. Most people get it down in a couple of days. Warning: If you have ridden toe clips for a long time and get used to clipless but try to go back to toe clips you will have to learn how to get out of toe clips all over again. And then relearn clipless.

What happens if I cannot get out? When you stop your bike You will fall. This can be very dangerous on steep trails and city streets.

Learn to use Mountain Bike Clipless Pedals Carefully I have been with several riders when they were learning to ride clipless. Most people learn quickly. I do not recommend going on an epic ride right after installing your new pedals. I have seen some painfully slow falls from riders not knowing how to get out.

Practice, Practice. My recommendation is to put your bike in front of the TV and practice getting in and out, over and over for an evening. If you have a trainer put your bike on it and get a workout while you are learning. Then stick to the easy trail---NO STEEP SIDE HILLS OR DOWN HILLS.

How Tight do I want my Clipless Pedals? Many pedals are adjustable as to the spring tension holding the cleat in the pedal. I believe for learning you should loosen the spring to the easiest setting. Only when you start to come out of the pedal accidentally should you tighten the springs. All of my pedals are set on the softest setting and I have been riding clipless since about 1991.

Who makes Clipless Pedals? There are Several manufacturers of Clipless Mountain pedals. Shimano was the first to build and promote them heavily. Many of the Mountain bike cleats are Shimano pedal compatible. The cleats will work in Shimano pedals. I always try to uses the cleats that came with the pedal I am using. Crank Brothers is another major manufacturer of pedals. The Crank Brothers cleats will only work on Crank Brothers Pedals.

Will I come out of my pedals when I crash? Usually if you have spent a bit of time getting used to Clipless you will react naturally and click out in a crash without even thinking about it.

Types of Mountain Bike Clipless Pedals. There are basically 3 types of clipless Mountain pedals.

Double sided pedals which will grip the cleat on either side.

Half and Half pedals with clipless on one side and what looks like a regular pedal on the other side.

Platform clipless pedals which grip the cleat in the middle of a large pedal.

I believe if you are going to ride clipless you need to at least learn to ride with double sided pedals. The half and half are ok for around town but if you do not get used to getting out of your clipless under stress you are headed for more falls.

Are Mountain Bike Clipless the same as Road Clipless Pedals? No Road pedals are normally one sided, the other side is minimized to increase the lean angle of the bike. This allows you to pedal as far as possible into the corner before your pedal hit’s the road.

Most Road cleats have a different screw mounting system. They do not mount to the same screws as the mountain cleats.

Mountain Bike Shoes have the cleat recessed into the sole so you can walk without walking on the cleat. Road shoes are much less comfortable to walk in and you walk on the cleat.

Unless you are a very serious Road Racer, Mountain bike shoes and pedals will work better than Road bike pedals and shoes. Many riders use one pair of shoes and get matching pedals for their road bike and mountain bike.

Types of Mountain Bike Clipless Shoes. There are two general types of mountain bike Clipless shoes. I classify them as Comfort shoes and Race Shoes.

Comfort shoes are usually designed to look like lightweight hiking shoes or cross training shoes and will have laces to hold your feet.

Race shoes will usually use 2, 3, or4 Velcro closures to hold your feet. All Clipless shoes will have stiff soles which make it uncomfortable to walk or stand all day but are good at converting your leg energy into pedal revolutions.

The Comfort shoes usually have a little bit more flexible sole than the race shoes. Many people want to use their shoes as both biking and hiking shoes. This does not work well. If the shoe performs even reasonably well on the bike, the sole will be way too stiff to work well hiking.

I normally recommend that Most Cyclists should buy Mountain Bike Race shoes. The recreational walking type of bike shoes still aren't good for walking in. The race shoes tend to be more durable and they give you more support while riding.

Road Shoes VS Mountain Bike Shoes Many companies make the same shoe for both Mountain and Road but they use a built up sole on their Mountain shoe.

Where do I mount the Cleats? Most Mountain shoes have 4 holes in the plate on the bottom of the shoe but most cleats only have 2 screws. This allows you to mount your cleats further forward or further back on the shoe. The plate will usually slide front to back and pivot to allow you to adjust your heel so it feels natural during the pedal stroke. Look at the position of your feet as you pedal on your old pedals and try to replicate that.

Do the cleats come with the Pedals or the Shoes? The Cleats come with the pedals and are pedal specific. Many cleats will work with the Shimano SPD pedals but I like to use the cleats that match the pedals that came with the pedals from the same manufacturer.

Looking Casual With UGGs Shoes

Just like the boots, UGGs shoes are bound to become popular. This is good news for the thousands of people who have found great comfort and satisfaction in wearing this brand's product from Australia. Although boots can definitely be worn any time of the year, some fashion conscious individuals prefer to sport a less wintry look. There is no better solution to this than to simply wear the shoes.

Shoes of the their type is similar to its boots. The shoes just don't have shafts and don't look like they should be worn with scarves and knitted sweaters. Wearers also have the option of wearing shoes with leather or suede on the outside. Actually, their shoes look very much like casual clogs, loafers, moccasins and ankle boots.

One of the main thing that this brand of shoes and boots share is its material: sheepskin. The material is also a main addition to the shoes and is the reason why the shoes are as comfortable as the boots. Some styles also have fleece insoles or fleece trim.

The sheepskin is the shoes' and boots' secret to a comfortable footwear. UGGs are also quite lightweight and flexible and the fleece lining has a way of molding into a person's feet. Rubber soles provide great traction. Their shoes are therefore the answer to your need for the boot feel while giving you a summer or spring casual look.

Both men and ladies can select from a wide variety of designs. Ladies can enjoy clog styles like Isabella, Molly and Cassandra. There are also convenient slip on designs like Sullivan, Kohala and Parker. Ladies mocs and loafers include Crawford, Harlow and Thelma. Men on the other hand can enjoy such shoe designs as Hermosa, Chase, Donnelly, Indy and Jones. Shoes come in different casual laid back shades like white, ember, toast, obsidian, dune and black. There's just something for the most discriminating tastes.

Anyone who wants to buy a pair can simply visit an their shoes site, place an order and have the pair delivered straight to you. You also have the equally great option of shopping in department stores or popular shoe stores.

One other option is to shop in other websites. Some merchants promote and sell the shoes on their own. You should take extra care though. Some merchants online might try to sell you knock off shoes just like they try to sell the fake boots. Go for large, well-known legitimate shoe sites that have a proven track record for selling only authentic shoes.

Fake UGG shoes may be a lot less expensive. However, you will definitely not get the same kind of comfort, flexibility and durability from fakes as you would from real sheepskin lined shoes. You could end up with terribly sweaty feet and a pair of shoes that might not last through the next season.

The Cost Of Designer Watches

When you look at the price tag on designer or luxury watches, you may wonder what makes them so expensive. There is no doubt that they are constructed with the finest materials and best craftsmanship, but how much better are they than watches that sell for much less? The fact is that much of what you will be paying for is the designer's name.

For many of years now, luxury watches have been regarded as symbols of wealth and success. The fine artisanship of luxury watches has made them more than just timepieces. Popular brands of luxury watches such as Rolex, Cartier and Gucci evoke admiration and respect. In recent years we have seen more of a demand on these luxury timepieces, and that demand is expected to increase.

Below I have listed two examples of how much a luxury or designer watch can cost. By no means do these examples represent the highest priced watch by each designer. (I left those out to avoid shock.)

Gucci Ladies Watch: Price $7990

Description: quartz movement. case size 20 mm. crown at 6 o'clock. sapphire crystal. yellow gold case with 44 diamonds and yellow gold horsebit bracelet with tiger's eye dial. total of 0.36 carats

Rolex Men's Watch: Price $9618

Description: Two-tone stainless steel case and oyster bracelet. Champagne dial and blue bezel with 8 diamond hour markers. 3 sapphire markers (1 triangular, 2 baguettes). Special time-lapse bezel. Pressure proof to 1000 feet. 31 jewel chronograph movement. Synthetic sapphire crystal. Fliplock clasp and extension link. Date displays at 3 o'clock position. Rolex Model Number 16613.

What about Replicas?

If you are yearning to have a designer watch but are afraid to even look at the price tag, a replica might be an option. But first, here is a note about replicas: Replicas are items that have been designed with inspiration from famous designers. There are legal replica manufactures as well as illegal replica manufactures. I will try to explain the difference.

A legal replica manufacturer will produce and sell an item with a similar quality and design, but will not use the designers name. They will make it very clear that is only a simulation. On the other hand, an illegal replica manufacture will produce and sell items that look like designer brands and try to pass them off as authentic by using the designer's name.

So, If your reason for wanting to purchase a luxury or designer watch is based on fine craftsmanship and the prestige of owning such a watch, but you cant afford one, you may want to consider a replica offering the same quality at a fraction of the cost.
